The beautiful forests, fields and wetlands of Caddo Lake provide critical habitat for a great variety of birds.  Already, more than 240 bird species have been recorded at Caddo Lake.  And more certainly have occurred here but have yet to be recorded.  You can help in the ongoing work of documenting Caddo Lake's diverse birdlife while you enjoy learning to identify these amazing creatures.

You can start by learning to identify the birds in your own yard.  Binoculars and a field guide are the basic tools, although many birds can be identified even without binoculars.  Check out the bird photos and information on the Birds of Caddo Lake website, and come join us for bird banding at Tom Walker's place, where you can get close-up views of our local birds and even hold them in your hands.

Bird banding and other birding activities around Caddo Lake will be posted on the Calendar of Activities at http://www.CaddoDefense.org.  For more information on birds, birding, and bird banding at Caddo Lake, visit the Birds of Caddo Lake website at http://members.tripod.com/caddobirds.
